Responsibilities

At baptism, parents and godparents make a commitment to teach:

The Lord’s Prayer
The Nicene and Apostle’s Creeds
The Ten Commandments
Reading the bible
Participating in Church
Committing to God

Godparents should be baptised members of the Christian Church, people who practice their faith in their lives and take an active role in the life of the church. This will make the promises they make in the Baptismal service more meaningful.

Baptism Arrangements

Baptisms are held during Sunday worship services, at a date and time agreed with the Vicar.

Baptism Liturgy

A bishop or priest presides over a baptism. A bishop presides for confirmation and renewal of vows.

Catechism

A summary of the teaching of the church, set out in a traditional question and answer format.

Confirmation

Those making a profession of faith for the first time are confirmed by the bishop
