A programme for Children
is offered at St Mark’s Church every Sunday at 10:00am.
All welcome!
At Children’s
Church we aim to:
Enable children to be embraced by all the people of God – so
that children can enjoy being part of the church with kids and adults
Enable
children to nurture their relationship with Jesus through hearing Jesus speak to
them through the bible which will be read on their level and in their language
Make space for children to exercise leadership
Provide a prayerful atmosphere
which can be creative and fun
We will do this by:
Seeking out and equipping gifted
adult leaders who love Jesus and want to share their faith with children
Encouraging
children to gather in church at 10:00am with adults and then to go out to hear and
reflect on the bible readings for that day
A child will be asked to carry a candle
and lead the children to children’s church, while another is asked to carry the
children’s bible. Parents are welcome to go with their child to Children’s Church,
or to stay in church with the adults
Children come back later in the service
to show the congregation what they have been doing and join in with Holy Communion
A variety of material is used to resource Children’s Church. It will follow the
same readings that adults are hearing. This is to enable families to reflect together
on the same readings when they leave church
Within the children’s church, children
may be encouraged (when appropriate): to read a bible text aloud for their group
or to lead a prayer aloud
The parish is open to children providing presentations
of drama, art, or songs for the whole congregation
